Contact Labs Group is the outcome of twenty-plus years of applied contact, decisions, and commercial work. The labs did not appear at once; they were built over time as the disciplines that repeatedly produced commercial return became the ones we specialised in.
The starting point was contact centre discipline. Twenty years ago, running commercial outbound programmes at scale required treating contact as an operational discipline in its own right. Data quality, targeting, script design, quality management, and the operating rhythm that made all of it produce return rather than activity. That discipline is still visible today in SalesLabs, ServiceLabs, and the CLG in-house telemarketing capability.
The next layer was decision architecture. Contact discipline produces commercial return only when it targets the right decisions. That insight led to years of applied work on how commercial buyers actually decide, how buying committees actually operate, and how the behavioural evidence produces different targeting, different messaging, and different journey design from the industry defaults. That applied work is what DecisionLabs now practises. The framework it applies, DIRECT, and the models associated with it are the intellectual property of Direct Intelligence Ltd, and CLG applies them under licence.
Then came the strategic and infrastructural labs. Standards work grew as B2B procurement gates became increasingly certification-driven. Content and PR grew as category authority became increasingly consequential. Search grew as buyer behaviour shifted online and, more recently, into AI answer engines. Data and Insight grew as evidence-based decision-making became a competitive differentiator. AI grew as applied AI became an operational reality rather than a projected future.
Contact Labs Group is where all twelve disciplines now operate as one integrated commercial capability. The labs share the DecisionLabs anchor, the v6 institutional editorial standard, and the operational discipline that makes each lab deliver against outcomes rather than activity. Every discipline the work draws on, media and PR, design, standards and certification, and systems build, is held and delivered as CLG's own integrated capability, across the twelve labs and our own team.
The commercial argument is simple. Commercial capability that is fragmented across many separate providers produces the operational overhead of coordination without the integration benefit of coherent execution. Commercial capability that is genuinely integrated (through the DecisionLabs anchor, the shared editorial standard, and the connected lab architecture) produces material commercial return above what fragmented providers can match.
